Tatas-owned Jaguar Land Rover today said it plans to recruit over 1,000 people at its Solihull manufacturing plant in the UK as it embarks on major expansion plan over the next five years.
"We shall be increasing the plant workforce by more than 25 per cent. We have a loyal and committed workforce at Solihull. These jobs are well paid with great benefits," Jaguar Land Rover HR Director Des Thurlby said in a statement.
The company said over 1,000 new jobs are being created in line with its ambition to deliver "40 significant product actions over the next five years thanks to a multi-billion pound investment in product creation".
The recruitment campaign, which was announced in print and radio advertisements today, is looking for production operators and trades people, it added.
Earlier this month, JLR had appointed ex-Audi UK boss Jeremy Hicks as the Managing Director of its operations in the UK with immediate effect. Both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands in the UK had separate Managing Directors earlier.
JLR has shifted Jaguar UK Managing Director Geoff Cousins to Jaguar Global Sponsorships & Partnerships as its Director, while Land Rover UK Managing Director Colin Green has been moved to Global Dealer Operations as its Director.
